The Center for Health Workforce Development (CHWD) is proud to announce its active participation in the Capacity Building Program on Governance and Leadership of Health Professions Education Institutions. The event, organized by the World Health Organization (WHO), Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, in collaboration with the Kuwait Medical Association and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, was held in Kuwait from December 7 to 10.

Representing RAK Medical & Health Sciences University, Professor Ismail Matalka, President of the RAKMHSU, and Professor Elsheikh Badr, Executive Director of CHWD, attended the workshop alongside other distinguished experts and healthcare leaders from across the region.

The program focused on strengthening governance and leadership within health professions education. Key topics included essential concepts of organizational management, the complexities of health systems, and global governance contexts in addition to strategic planning for health professions education. Participants applied systems thinking to address intricate challenges and collaborated on evidence-informed policy development to enhance educational performance in health professions institutions.

The workshop also provided a platform for participants to engage in meaningful discussions, share best practices, and exchange innovative ideas with WHO officials and regional leaders in health professions education. The emphasis on collaboration and shared learning underscored the importance of raising governance and leadership standards to ensure the continued advancement of health workforce development.

CHWD remains committed to participating in initiatives that enhance leadership capacity, drive innovation, and promote excellence in health professions education and workforce development.
