It shall be the responsibility of the administrative officials of the University to promote, protect and defend academic freedom and, with the assistance of the faculty members, to ensure that members of the academic community fulfill their responsibilities.The faculty member accepts, as well, the obligation to exercise critical selfdiscipline and judgment in extending and transmitting knowledge. The faculty member must devote time and energy to developing and improving scholarly competence. Faculty members%u2019 responsibilities are classified under the following categories:%u2022Teaching, including clinical teaching %u2022Academic Advising%u2022Research and scholarly activities%u2022University and Community servicesIn addition, it is expected from the faculty member to: %u2022Participate actively in the assessment procedures.%u2022Carry out administrative tasks and other activities related to the position.%u2022Uphold intellectual integrity and objectivity in the search for the truth, respecting discrepancies in criteria.%u2022Not to discriminate against, harass, or impose prejudicial treatment upon other faculty members, staff members, students, or participants because of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, country of citizenship, age, political beliefs, or status as a person with a disability.%u2022Not to violate current University rules and regulations.%u2022Comply with reasonable and appropriate instructions from the department's Chairperson, the Dean, Vice Presidents, and the President or other authorized University officers, respecting the timely performance of their essential duties.%u2022Competently perform their responsibilities and obligations as teachers/ consultants in the hospital/researchers/scholars and faculty members.%u2022Use his/her time and efforts totally for the University; any work outside the University must be done with special permission. %u2022Be an effective role model to the students as well as to the colleagues.
