RAK Medical and Health Sciences University (RAKMHSU) adopts a modified Moodle version as an electronic platform and a robust Learning Management System (LMS) to run the online master programs in public health. This platform is based on collaborative arrangements with The International Academy of Public Health (IAPH) and is designed to support the delivery of structured, scalable, and flexible public health education and training. The LMS serves as the core platform for managing course content, learner engagement, assessment, and certification across program offerings.
Powered by Moodle, the LMS is built on a modular structure that supports self-paced and instructor-led learning modalities. It accommodates a wide range of instructional formats, including interactive sessions, videos, readings, collaborative activities, quizzes, assignments, and discussion forums. The LMS also facilitates blended learning by integrating in-person components with online instruction where applicable.
Key System Features:
The LMS is fully responsive and accessible across desktops, tablets, and smartphones. It adheres to relevant accessibility standards and is compatible with the current version of every major web browser. It is also hosted on secure servers with regular data backups and role-based access control to ensure privacy and data protection.
Since its launch in 2021, the LMS has successfully hosted numerous instructor-led and self-paced short courses. Currently, it hosts a 9-month professional diploma in Environmental Health and an Executive Professional Master’s Program in Public Health Emergencies run by IAPH. Both programs are instructor-led, cohort-based (five and six cohorts respectively), and serve public health professionals across the globe.
The LMS is managed by a dedicated eLearning unit composed of instructional designers, LMS administrators, LMS developers, and technical training coordinators. The team is responsible for end-to-end course deployment, quality assurance, learner support, and system maintenance. The unit also collaborates with subject matter experts and faculty members to ensure that course and program delivery aligns with training best practices and the specific learning objectives of each program.
