RAK Medical & Health Sciences University is committed to ensuring that its website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We continually work to improve the user experience for all and to apply the relevant accessibility standards.
Built to WCAG 2.1 Level AA
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. This website aims to conform with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning and neurological needs.
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. As we develop new pages and features, we test them against these standards and remediate issues as they are identified.
Accessibility features of this site
Semantic HTML5 landmarks, logical heading order and descriptive page titles so assistive technologies can navigate content predictably.
All interactive elements — menus, links and forms — are operable with a keyboard, with visible focus indicators throughout.
Meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
Text and interface colours are chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios for readability in varied lighting conditions.
Layouts reflow on phones, tablets and desktops, and content remains usable when text is enlarged up to 200%.
Form fields, buttons and links use clear labels and ARIA attributes where native semantics are not sufficient.
Areas we are still improving
Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. We are aware of the following and are working to resolve them:
- Some older PDF documents may not be fully tagged for screen readers; accessible alternatives are available on request.
- A small number of third-party or embedded tools (for example, the online application portal) are managed externally and may not meet the same standards.
- Some legacy images may have incomplete alternative text while we complete our content review.
