Job summary

RAK Medical and Health Sciences University (RAKMHSU) invites applications from experienced professionals in examinations and student assessment to join its Office of Academic Assessment and Evaluation as Manager - Examinations and Student Assessment.

About the Role

• The role will lead a team responsible for planning and managing student assessments and examinations, including question banks, examination delivery, marking and results processing.
• The position also supports the use of digital assessment systems and the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in student assessment.

Qualifications

• A master's degree (minimum) in Education / Medical Education, Educational Measurement, Management, Assessment, Curriculum, Institutional Effectiveness, Educational Psychology, or a closely related discipline.
• A doctoral degree, along with relevant professional certification or formal training in assessment, psychometrics / educational measurement, project management, data analytics or AI implementation, would be an advantage.

Experience Requirements

• At least fifteen years of relevant professional experience in higher education, academic assessment, quality assurance, institutional effectiveness, educational measurement, examination management, or a related area.
• At least five years in a senior management, leadership or supervisory role within a higher education institution or university.

Applicants Should Also Demonstrate

• Hands-on experience in student examination management, including item analysis, question-bank management, results processing and examination quality assurance. Knowledge of examination blueprinting, standard setting, assessment governance and examination security.
• Experience improving digital student assessment and examination processes, with proficiency in assessment software, student information systems, learning management systems and statistical analysis.
• Knowledge of responsible AI use, including data confidentiality, bias risks and human oversight. Ability to evaluate AI pilots and train staff in approved administrative and analytical uses. Experience integrating AI or data analytics into higher education student assessment is preferred.
• Strong leadership, coaching, collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to manage change, interpret student assessment data and work extended hours during examination periods.
• Experience in a medical or health sciences college, or with international or licensing examinations such as NBME, is an added advantage.
