Community Engagement Events & Awareness Campaigns

RAKMHSU’s community engagement and awareness campaigns bring together students, faculty, partner institutions, and the wider Ras Al Khaimah community. Each initiative below is mapped to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) it advances.

1. Majalis Session on Community Safety

The Community Protection and Prevention Department – RAK Police, in collaboration with the Deanship of Students Affairs – RAKMHSU, is pleased to organize a Majalis Session. This session aims to raise awareness, encourage dialogue, and promote community engagement in supporting the safety, well-being, and resilience of People of Determination.

Majalis Session on Community Safety

2. Pink October 2025

The Office of Student Affairs, in collaboration with the Student Council, successfully conducted the Pink October awareness event on 16th October 2025, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Sports Complex. The event focused on raising awareness about breast cancer and promoting early screening, featuring educational sessions, fundraising activities, competitions, exhibitions, and student performances.

4. The 1st Conference of Climate Change and Health in the Arab Region (CCHAR): Advancing Regional Interdisciplinary Collaborations

The conference was organized as a regional interdisciplinary platform bringing together researchers, public health experts, and policymakers to address the health impacts of climate change in the Arab region. It was also held in conjunction with the ICE-MENA conference events in Amman, enhancing regional collaboration and participation.

5. The 10th International Conference on Ethics in the Middle East and North Africa Region (ICEMENA): Climate, Environmental Justice, and Health Equity

In-person (held jointly with a regional conference series; shared venue and registration with CCHAR)

The conference focused on ethical challenges related to climate change, environmental justice, and health equity in the MENA region. It brought together academics, researchers, and policymakers to discuss issues such as environmental risks, vulnerable populations, and ethical responsibilities in public health and research.

6. 15th RAKMHSU Career Fair 2025

The 15th RAKMHSU Career Fair 2025 held on 5th November 2025 concluded with remarkable engagement and professional collaboration. 7. Pre-Conception Care Awareness Campaign

The “Pre-Conception Care” campaign, held on 26 November 2025 at RAK Medical and Health Sciences University, aimed to promote shared health preparedness and informed parenthood among students. The initiative offered free clinical screenings (BMI, blood pressure, vitamin assessment), expert-led sessions, and interactive discussions to enhance understanding of pre-pregnancy health. Through educational activities and awareness programs, the campaign encouraged students to adopt proactive health practices, contributing to a healthier future generation and community.

8. Pink October – Breast Cancer Awareness

RAK Medical and Health Sciences University successfully observed Pink October in alignment with the 2024 theme, promoting breast cancer awareness and early detection. The event featured an interactive session for Grade 11 and 12 female students, including breast self-examination training by senior medical and nursing students. The day also included student exhibitions and fundraising activities such as quizzes, games, and a bake sale, with proceeds dedicated to supporting breast cancer patients. The initiative reflected strong community engagement, unity, and commitment toward awareness and prevention.

11. Health Check-up Campaign for Grade 12 School Students

On November 14th, RAKMHSU organized a community health check-up campaign for Grade 12 students at the university sports complex. Two faculty members and 10 students from the RAK College of Pharmacy volunteered to assist with the event. In addition to their volunteer work, the students designed educational materials, including brochures, posters, and presentations on topics like diabetes, its risk factors, healthy diet, exercise, and management, under faculty supervision.

Health Check-up Campaign for Grade 12 School Students

12. World Mental Health Day – 10 October 2024

On World Mental Health Day, RAKCON collaborated with Al Kuwaiti Sharjah Hospital for a community-focused event promoting mental wellness in healthcare. This inclusive initiative brought together professionals and students from diverse backgrounds, fostering emotional awareness, peer support, and professional connection while empowering participants to advocate for mental health in their fields.
