College of Pharmacy at RAK Medical and Health Sciences University has obtained dual national and international accreditation for its Bachelor of Pharmacy program from the American Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA)     New fee structure updated for the academic year 2023-24.     All Programs are accredited by Ministry of Education, UAE.    All our programs are recognized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Admissions Criteria

The minimum admission requirements in RAKMHSU Best Medical Schools, Colleges, Universities depend on the applicant’s type of secondary education program and certificate. RAKMHSU recognizes secondary school certificates awarded by Ministry of Education and by private secondary schools that are recognized by their host countries.

The University also accepts certificates awarded by recognized authorities of national and international boards.

Some countries award two levels of secondary school certificates, in which case, RAKMHSU will recognize the higher level certificate.

The following is a list of certificates and the corresponding minimum levels of performance required for admission to RAKMHSU. These certificates and levels of achievement serve as guidelines for admission to RAKMHSU. However these are minimum eligibility requirements only and students with high merit are selected.

Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program

A.1. Admissions criteria for 12th grade High School or equivalent and additional requirements which are mandatory

SAT in Math and English required to be completed in school for obtaining Equivalency Certificate from MOE.
SABIS An aggregate score of 90% is required. Priority in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics.
International Baccalaureate Must have completed any six courses including Biology and Chemistry/Physics at the higher level and obtain IB score of at least 26.
Pakistan Boards/Certificate Higher Secondary School Certificate with aggregate of 75% can apply. Priority in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics (Part 1 and Part 2 total).
Indian Curriculum (CBSE/ISCE) & Indian State Board All India Senior School Certificate XII std CBSE/ISCE exams with 75% aggregate can apply. However, Priority in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses. Indian State board: 80% aggregate can apply. Priority in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses.
British Curriculum Students applying for the Doctor Of Medicine (MD) programs must have completed at least two Advanced Supplementary of AS level OR one A level in Biology with at least ‘B and above’ grade after having completed 5 IGCSE/GCSE or O levels with minimum grade of ‘B and above’ in O level courses (the aggregate is equal to 90%) equivalent to UAE curriculum. Only courses classified as academic will be considered for admission. Courses must include Physics, Chemistry and Biology with at least two of them including Biology at the AS level/A level. Israel Curriculum A minimum of High School in 12th grade with overall average 84% is required with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects.

A.1.1. In addition to the above 12th grade requirements student are required to do as mentioned below:

  • An Emirates Standardized Test (EmSAT) score of 1100 for English Language or an equivalent English Proficiency Test approved by the CAA. (TOEFL score of 500 in paper-based test OR 61 in internet based test OR Academic IELTS score of 5 OR 173 in TOEFL CBT) are the English language requirements.
  • EmSAT scores of 900 in two out of the three science subjects (Biology, Chemistry/Physics) & EmSAT score of 900 in Mathematics.
  • Or, if the student did not complete his/her EmSAT exam, he/she has to provide the following subjects Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry/Physics done in 12th grade.
  • Or, if the student did not complete his/her EmSAT exam or Mathematics & science subjects not taken in 12th grade, he/she has to attend the Admission/Entrance Exam at the University which will include (Missing Subject: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry/Physics) and is equivalent to EmSAT subjects as per MOE guidelines.
  • Passing a personal interview set by the College in addition to other conditions of admission set by the university.

English language requirement validity: Please note that the validity of TOEFL paper based test , TOEFL IBT, TOEFL CBT & IELTS is two years only and for EMSAT English score is 18 months and these scores should be valid at the time of Admission process to join any of our programs.

Note : Applicants will be given priority for the Admissions who have completed all the above Admission requirements as per Ministry of Education, UAE and as per the availability of the Seat to the MD program.

Admission Procedure for Doctor Of Medicine (MD)

a. The following steps will be followed for admissions to the Doctor Of Medicine (MD) program for Sept 2023 session:

1. From the online applications received, after evaluating the 12th grade marks as per the Admission requirement, students will be shortlisted based on the highly meritorious amongst the qualified candidates. A provisional offer letter will be issued to the student asking to remit the seat reservation fee to block the seat for the program. Once the student paid the seat reservation fee, based on the documents submission through online form, the student will required to do as per the clause mentioned in (A.1.1 -MD)

2. The Personal Interview which is a must for All the students, the interview will be conducted virtually through google meet or Zoom software. Admissions Committee consisting of Dean of RAK College of Medicine & a panel of one or two Senior Faculty and In-Charge – Admissions, Registration & Marketing.

3. Grade 12 results are declared for various Boards of study in UAE at different timings in 3 phases-starting end of May, mid of June and first week of July. Therefore, interviews will be conducted from June onwards every week until seats are full.

  • The admission will be based on merit and on the MOE Guidelines for admission.
  • Candidates who are selected for admission after the Personal Interview will receive the Provisional Offer letter by email from the University within 2 days with a timeline for acceptance and confirmation by payment of the balance fees. If the candidate is accepting the offer of admission, he/she must comply with all the requirements specified in the Provisional Offer Letter including submission of required documents and payment of fee on or before the stipulated date mentioned in the Provisional Offer Letter. If the candidate does not respond within the deadline mentioned, the provisional offer automatically expires and the seat is allotted to the next candidate in the waiting list.
  • On compliance of the above including payment of requisite fee, the candidate will receive a registered student ID number on email and due intimation from the University regarding further details on the Freshman Orientation Program.
  • Applicants should strictly adhere to the deadlines indicated for admission, submit online applications on time and upload important document copies mentioned such as grade sheets/transcripts, EmSAT/IELTS/TOEFL scores etc and ensure application is fully completed before they click the submit button.
  • Once the seats are full, the remaining candidates who have qualified after personal interview will be waitlisted.
  • Waitlisted applicants and late applicants can be considered for admission if seats are still available for that program, within registration deadlines.
  • Admission of students are subject to the compliance of all requirements specified in the Provisional/Admission Offer Letter.
  • All the documents submitted online by the candidates will be verified with the originals submitted by the candidates during admission and duly returned after verification as per CAA Standards.
  • In case of non-compliance with any of the admission criteria/ false documentation submitted, the admission of the candidate will automatically stand cancelled.

      Attestations & Equivalency Certificate mandatory prior to Admission:

      1. Prior to admission, all students who studied foreign curriculum in UAE must produce the Equivalency Certificate from the Ministry of Education of the emirate in which studied. To obtain the same, students should visit the Ministry of Education and submit their Arabic and Islamic results for the grades 10, 11 and 12(For Muslims).
      2. For students who studied foreign curriculum in UAE, attestation (official seal & stamp) of certificates grade 10 onwards until grade 12 by Ministry of Education is also mandatory. Students who studied foreign curriculum outside UAE, must obtain attestation (official seal & stamp) of school grade sheets, 10th grade upwards until 12th by Ministry of Education in the country of study and UAE consulate in that country.

      RN–BSN Bridge Program(for Diploma holders only):

      1. Registered nurses who have completed the Associate Degree/Diploma in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing with 70% aggregate with 2 years of clinical working experience (OR with 65%-69% aggregate in Associate Degree in Nursing/Diploma in Nursing with 3-7 years of clinical working experience) and RN licensure from the country of origin can apply.
      2. English language requirements for RN-BSN program: An Emirates Standardized Test (EmSAT) score of 1100 for English Language or an equivalent English Proficiency Test approved by the CAA. (TOEFL score of 500 in paper-based test OR 61 in internet based test OR Academic IELTS score of 5)

      ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATE-ENTRY 4-YEARS MD PROGRAM

      (This track of admission depends on the vacancy available within the approved capacity of admission.)

      • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0-point scale or equivalent on non-GPA grading systems

      The Applicant must have proficiency in spoken and written English. The Applicant can fulfil the English proficiency requirement via the EmSAT – English or TOEFL paper based or TOEFL – IBT(internet based test) or Academic IELTS.

      Please note that the validity of TOEFL paper based test, TOEFL – IBT(Internet based test), Academic IELTS is two years only and for EMSAT English score is 18 months and these scores should be valid at the time of Admission process to join the above program.

    • Two Letters of Recommendation (LOR) from persons familiar with the Applicant’s academic aptitude and standing (Dean/Professor/Faculty) in the Bachelor program; one may be from a workplace.

    All Applicants shall be subjected to an interview by the Special Admissions Committee to evaluate for cognitive and non-cognitive traits demonstrating their aptitude for the chosen area of study.

    Applicants are required to apply on the admission portal with resume and a personal statement.

    The decision of the Admission Committee shall be final and binding.

    Admission requirements for Graduate Admissions:

    Master of Science Program in Pharmacy

    RAK College of Pharmacy offers Master’s Degree in Pharmacy. Following are the specialties offered in the Master of Science in Pharmacy programs:

    Direct Admission:

    1. Students with B.Pharm with minimum CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 3 on a 4 scale or equivalent.
    2. Proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 550 in paper-based test OR 79 in internet-based test OR Academic IELTS score of 6 OR EmSAT Achieve- English score of minimum1400 is required.

    Conditional Admissions (M.S. Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Pharmaceutics):

    a. Students may conditionally admit to the program with a recognized Bachelor’s degree and a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or its established equivalent. Such a student must take a maximum of nine credit hours of courses studied for the graduate program during the period of conditional admission and must achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its established equivalent, in these nine credits of courses studied for the graduate program or be subject to dismissal.

    b. Remedial Preparation for the Graduate Programs (M.S. Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Pharmaceutics): Students may admit to the program with a recognized Bachelor’s degree and a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or its established equivalent to a maximum of nine graduate-level credit hours as remedial preparation for the graduate program. These remedial courses are not for credit within the degree program. The student must achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its established equivalent, in these nine credits of remedial courses in order to progress to the graduate program or be subject to dismissal.

    c. Students may conditionally admit with a recognized Bachelor’s degree and an EmSAT score of 1250 or its equivalent on another standardized test approved by the CAA, such as TOEFL score of 530 (197 CBT, 71 iBT), or 5.5 IELTS academic, to the program. Such a student must meet the following requirements during the period of conditional admission or be subject to dismissal:

    • Must achieve an EmSAT score of 1400 or equivalent, by the end of the student’s first semester of study
    • May take a maximum of six credit hours in the first semester of study, not including intensive English courses.
    • Must achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its established equivalent, in the first six credit hours of credit-bearing courses studied for the graduate program.

      Prospective students may fill in the online application form and attach all relevant documents, and the fully qualified applicants will receive an offer letter with a deadline for payment remittance.

      Masters programs in Pharmacy aspirants may apply online, and qualified students will be called for an interview/discussion with the Dean.

      1. Direct Admission: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree with minimum CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
