RAK College of Nursing (RAKCON) has been at the forefront of nursing education since the establishment of its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program in 2006. The introduction of Stream A marked a significant milestone, reflecting the college's dedication to providing high-quality education that prepares students for patient-centered care. The program's excellence was quickly recognized, leading to its initial accreditation by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the UAE Ministry of Education.
Building on this success, RAKCON introduced Stream B in 2008, a pathway designed for Registered Nurses (RNs) to advance their education and obtain a bachelor's degree, thereby enhancing their career prospects. This RN to BSN program has been instrumental in supporting the professional growth of nurses.
In 2011, RAKCON expanded its academic offerings with the launch of the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program, initially focusing on Adult Health Nursing. By 2013, the program had evolved to include specializations in Adult Health and Gerontology Nursing, Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, and Pediatric Nursing, thus broadening the career opportunities for its graduates. Responding to the growing demand for highly skilled midwives, RAKCON introduced the Master of Science in Midwifery (MSM) program in 2020. This program aims to equip students with the advanced skills required in the field of midwifery.
All of RAKCON's programs have received re-accreditation from the CAA, underscoring the college's commitment to maintaining high educational standards. The success of RAKCON's programs is reflected in the growth of its graduate numbers. The first cohort of BSN Stream A graduated in 2010 with 8 students. By 2023, the total number of graduates had grown to more than 360. Stream B had over 22 graduates in its first cohort in 2010, and this number increased to over 627 by 2023. The MSN program graduated 11 students in 2013, with the number rising to approximately 122 by 2023. The MSM program, which began in 2022, graduated 5 students in its first year and more than 9 in 2023, demonstrating the college's continuous growth and success.
RAKCON alumni are recognized for their significant contributions to healthcare leadership across the UAE. The college has also established strong partnerships through Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with various organizations, institutes, international universities, and hospitals, facilitating opportunities for student exchange programs and collaborative training.
