Admission Bulletin 2020-21


Admissions are open to students of all nationalities.

Admission of international students will also depend on UAE immigration regulations regarding student visa in the wake of COVID related travel restrictions and regulations regarding quarantine.

A. MBBS program-12th grade minimum marks requirements for different 12th grade curriculum:

To apply minimum aggregate of 90% in the grade 12 science stream/ Advanced stream of UAE GSEC of Ministry of Education. Preference in admissions will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics in 12th or EmSAT.

Abu Dhabi Education Council stream students should similarly have 90% aggregate. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Advanced Biology (level 3) and Advanced Chemistry(level 3) or EmSAT.

English Language Requirements for MBBS program :Preference in admission will be given to those with proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 550 in paper-based test, 79 in internet based test OR Academic IELTS score of 6 OR EmSAT Achieve- English score of 1400.

Amongst the applicants, the candidates in order of high merit will be called for interview.

Applicants in the order of high merit will be called for an Admissions Exam & Interview.

As part of admissions requirement students should pass the Admission Exam designed by RAK College of Medicine which includes the following basic science subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics & Mathematics and also pass a personal interview set by RAK College of Medicine.

Examples of Foreign Higher Secondary School Certificates:

The following is a list of certificates and the corresponding minimum levels of performance required for admission to RAKMHSU programs. These certificates and levels of achievement serve as guidelines for admission to RAKMHSU programs.

American Curriculum:

    An aggregate score of 90% is required. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics. If Biology is not taken in 12th Grade, a SAT II score of 550 in Biology is required. SAT in Math and English required to be completed in school for obtaining Equivalency Certificate.

International Baccalaureate:

    Must have completed any six courses including Biology and Chemistry/Physics at the higher level and obtain IB score of at least 26.

Pakistan Boards/Certificate:

    For MBBS: Higher Secondary School Certificate with aggregate of 75% can apply. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics (Part 1 and Part 2 total).

Indian Curriculum:

    All India Senior School Certificate XII std CBSE/ISCE exams with 75% aggregate can apply. However, preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses.
    Indian State board: 80% aggregate can apply. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses.

British Curriculum :

  1. Students applying for the MBBS/BDS programs must have completed at least two Advanced Supplementary or AS level OR one A level in Biology with at least ‘B and above’ grade after having completed 5 IGCSE/GCSE or O levels with minimum grade of ‘B and above’ in O level courses.
  2. Only courses classified as academic will be considered for admission. Courses must include Physics, Chemistry and Biology with at least two of them including Biology at the AS level/A level.

African Curriculum(WAEC/WASSCE etc)

    A & B combination of grades in 12th grades in Biology and Chemistry can be considered. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics.

Canadian Curriculum(Ontario/Alberta etc)

    An aggregate score of 85% is required. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics.

Applicants from any other foreign educational curriculum not listed above must have secured a minimum aggregate equivalent to UAE curriculum 90% as per International Conversion Table of World Education Standards.

For BDS & B.Pharm Programs:

UAE GSEC:

    An aggregate of 85% in the grade 12 science stream/ Advanced stream of UAE GSEC of Ministry of Education. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics or EMSAT score whichever is higher.
    Abu Dhabi Education Council stream students should similarly have 85% aggregate. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Advanced Biology(level 3) and Advanced Chemistry( level 3) or EMSAT score whichever is higher.

Foreign 12th grade Curriculum Equivalencies:

Indian Curriculum:

    For BDS : All India Senior School Certificate XII std CBSE/ISCE exams with 70% aggregate can apply. However, preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses.
    Indian State board: 75% aggregate can apply. However, preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses
    For B.Pharm : All India Senior School Certificate XII Std CBSE/ISCE exams with 70% aggregate can apply. However, preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses.
    Indian State board: 75% aggregate can apply. However, preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses

Pakistan Board:

    Higher Secondary School Certificate with aggregate of 70% can apply. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics (Part 1 and Part 2 total).

Applicants from any other foreign educational curriculum not listed above must have secured a minimum aggregate equivalent to UAE curriculum 85 % as per International Conversion Table of World Education Standards.

Conditional Admissions for BDS & B.Pharm

Those who do not secure the above marks for Direct Admissions can be Conditionally Admitted by the Two Categories below:

  1. Those who secured between 70% and 84% for UAE curriculum and those who secured above 60% and below 69% for Indian & Pakistan Curriculum.
  2. Those with TOEFL between 450 but less than 500, EmSAT 950 but less than 1100 or between 4.5 and 5 in IELTS.
  3. Conditionally admitted students will take only GE courses upto (12 credit hours) in the first semester. On obtaining 2.5 GPA in semester one, student will proceed to second semester as a regular student. If not student will be academically dismissed.

For BDS

Applicants in the order of high merit will be called for an Admissions Exam & Interview.

As part of admissions requirement students should pass the Admission Exam designed by RAK College of Dentistry, which includes the following basic science subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics & Mathematics and also pass a personal interview set by RAK College of Dentistry.

For B.Pharm

As part of admissions requirement students should pass the Admission Exam designed by RAK College of Pharmacy which includes the following basic science subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics & Mathematics and also pass a personal interview set by RAK College of Pharmacy.

For BSN program:

UAE GSEC:

    An aggregate of 70% in the grade 12 science stream/ Advanced stream of UAE GSEC of Ministry of Education. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics or EMSAT score whichever is higher.
    Abu Dhabi Education Council stream students should similarly have 70% aggregate. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Advanced Biology(level 3) and Advanced Chemistry( level 3) or EMSAT score whichever is higher.

Pakistan Boards/Certificate:

    Higher Secondary School Certificate with aggregate of 55% can apply. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics (Part 1 and Part 2 total).

Indian Curriculum:

    All India Senior School Certificate XII std CBSE/ISCE exams with 55% aggregate can apply. However, preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses.
    Indian State board: 60% aggregate can apply. However, preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses

For BSN as seats have been full with students obtaining 70% and above, Conditional Admission was applied ONLY for those not meeting English Language requirements. That is those with TOEFL between 450 but less than 500, EmSAT 950 but less than 1100 or between 4.5 and 5 in IELTS.

UAE Nationals: Separate permission has been taken from CAA for UAE Nationals for one semester who were below English language requirement meeting provisional norms.

NOTE: Attestations & Equivalency Certificate mandatory prior to admission:

  1. Prior to admission, all students who studied foreign curriculum in UAE must produce the Equivalency Certificate from the Ministry of Education of the emirate in which studied. To obtain the same, students should visit the Ministry of Education and submit their Arabic and Islamic results for the grades 10, 11 and 12(For Muslims).
  2. For students who studied foreign curriculum in UAE, attestation (official seal & stamp) of certificates grade 10 onwards until grade 12 by Ministry of Education is also mandatory.
  3. Students who studied foreign curriculum outside UAE, must obtain attestation (official seal & stamp) of school grade sheets, 10th grade upwards until 12th by Ministry of Education in the country of study and UAE consulate in that country.
MBBS Admission procedure:

The following steps will be followed for admissions to the MBBS program for Sept 2020 session:

  1. From the online applications received, a call letter for interview will be issued to the highly meritorious amongst the fully qualified candidates for the interview which will be conducted on Google Meet. Admissions Committee consisting of Dean of the medical college & a panel of one or two Senior Faculty and Asst.Director-Admissions will conduct the interview.
  2. Grade 12 results are declared for various Boards of study in UAE at different timings in 3 phases-starting end of May, mid of June and first week of July. Therefore, interviews will be conducted from June onwards every week until seats are full.
  3. An admissions test will also be administered online that includes basic science courses- Biology, Chemistry & Physics.

  • The admission will be done as per the merit list and within the CAA Guidelines for admission.
  • Candidates who are selected for admission after the interview will receive the Admission Offer letter by email from the University within 2 days with a timeline for acceptance and confirmation by payment of fees. If the candidate is accepting the offer of admission, he/she must comply with all the requirements specified in the Admission Offer Letter including submission of required documents and payment of fee on or before the stipulated date mentioned in the Admission Offer Letter. If the candidate does not respond within the deadline mentioned, the admission offer automatically expires and the seat is allotted to the next candidate in the waiting list.
  • On compliance of the above including payment of requisite fee, the candidate will receive a registered student ID number on email and due intimation from the University regarding further details on the Freshman Orientation Program.
  • Applicants should strictly adhere to the deadlines indicated for admission, submit online applications on time and upload important document copies mentioned such as grade sheets/ transcripts, EmSAT/IELTS/TOEFL scores etc and ensure application is fully completed before they click the submit button.
  • Once the seats are full, the remaining candidates who have qualified after interview will be waitlisted.
  • Waitlisted applicants and late applicants can be considered for admission if seats are still available for that program, within registration deadlines.
  • Admission of students are subject to the compliance of all requirements specified in the Admission Offer Letter.
  • All the documents submitted online by the candidates will be verified with the originals submitted by the candidates during admission and duly returned after verification as per CAA guidelines.
  • In case of non-compliance with any of the admission criteria/ false documentation submitted, the admission of the candidate will automatically stand cancelled.

The original documents to be submitted for verification by the candidate for verification are mentioned in the admissions offer.

RN-BSN Bridge Program – admission requirements:

Registered nurses who have completed Diploma in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing with 70% aggregate and 70% in Nursing courses, RN licensure from country of origin with 2 years clinical working experience can apply.

Prospective students may fill in the online application form and attach all relevant documents and the fully qualified applicants will receive an offer letter with a deadline for payment remittance.

Masters programs in Nursing & Pharmacy aspirants may apply online and qualified students will be called for an interview/discussion with the Dean.

English Language Requirements for MBBS program :

Preference in admission will be given to those with proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 550 in paper-based test, 79 in internet based test OR Academic IELTS score of 6 OR EmSAT Achieve- English score of 1400.

English language requirements for all Bachelor Degree Programs-BDS,B.Pharm,BSN & RN-BSN Programs:

Proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 500 in paper-based test, 61 in internet based test or 173 in computer based test OR Academic IELTS score of 5 OR EmSAT Achieve- English score of minimum 1100.

English language requirements for Masters Programs:

Proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 550 in paper-based test, 79 in internet based test or 213 in computer based test OR Academic IELTS score of 6 OR EmSAT Achieve- English score of minimum1400 is required.

Conditional Admissions:

Conditional Admissions for academic programs will apply as per MOE directives as per Standards for Licensure & Accreditation 2019.

Note:

  • Students with 12th grade marksheet/grades more than 2 years old will not be given priority for admission.
  • The University reserves the right to refuse admission to any candidate without assigning any reason.
  • The decision of the Admission Committee in the matters of admission is final.
  • The jurisdiction in respect of all legal matters in admission related matters will be at Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

Important Admission Dates:
a) Online application for MBBS is FULL & CLOSED.
b) Online applications for BDS, B.Pharm & BSN programs will be received from 01st March 2020 for the academic session 2020-21.
c) Online application for the RN-BSN, MSN & M.S Pharmacy programs will received from 01st March 2020 for the academic session 2020-21 until 20th Oct 2020 or until seats are filled in whichever is earlier.
d) For BDS,B.Pharm & BSN programs applications will be received until 20th Oct 2020.
Late applications will be considered subject to availability of seats.
e) Freshmen Orientation, Registration for MBBS, BDS, B.Pharm, BSN, RN-BSN, MSN & M.S. Pharmacy programs 06th & 07th Sept 2020
