Admission Bulletin 2021-22

Admissions are open to students of all nationalities.

Admission of international students will also depend on UAE immigration regulations regarding student visa in the wake of COVID related travel restrictions and regulations regarding quarantine.

MBBS program-12th grade minimum marks requirements for different 12th grade curriculum and Admission procedure :

1. Admissions General Requirements

  1. 1. An EmSAT score of 800 for Arabic Language. Alternatively, the international students can register for a non-credited Basic Arabic Language course at the institution.
  2. An EmSAT score of 900 in Mathematics or equivalent, plus scores of 900 in two of the three science subjects (Chemistry, Biology or Physics). In the case that EmSAT scores in Mathematics and two science subjects are not available, a candidate shall sit an equivalent Admission/Entrance Exam designed by the College which includes Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Mathematics.
  3. Passing a personal interview set by the College in addition to other conditions of admission set by the university.

1.2 English language requirements for MBBS program: An Emirates Standardized Test (EmSAT) score of 1100 for English Language or an equivalent English Proficiency Test approved by the CAA. (TOEFL score of 500 in paper-based test OR 61 in internet based test OR Academic IELTS score of 5)

Please note that the validity of TOEFL paper based test & IELTS is two years only and for Emsat English score is 18 months and these scores should be valid at the time of registration to any of our programs (Sept 1) when the new academic year begins.

Examples of Foreign Higher Secondary School Certificates:

The following is a list of certificates and the corresponding minimum levels of performance required for admission to RAKMHSU programs. These certificates and levels of achievement serve as guidelines for admission to RAKMHSU programs.

2.1 UAE Curriculum:

A minimum High School Average of 90% for Advanced Track or 85% for Elite Track or equivalent in Standardized International Systems is required with no admission of General Track applicants.

2.2 American Curriculum:

An aggregate score of 90% is required. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics. If Biology is not taken in 12th Grade, a SAT II score of 550 in Biology is required. SAT in Math and English required to be completed in school for obtaining Equivalency Certificate.

2.3 International Baccalaureate:

Must have completed any six courses including Biology and Chemistry/Physics at the higher level and obtain IB score of at least 26.

2.4 Pakistan Boards/Certificate:

For MBBS: Higher Secondary School Certificate with aggregate of 75% can apply. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics (Part 1 and Part 2 total).

2.5 Indian Curriculum:

All India Senior School Certificate XII std CBSE/ISCE exams with 75% aggregate can apply. However, preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses.

Indian State board: 80% aggregate can apply. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses.

2.6 British Curriculum :

  1. Students applying for the MBBS programs must have completed at least two Advanced Supplementary of AS level OR one A level in Biology with at least ‘B and above’ grade after having completed 5 IGCSE/GCSE or O levels with minimum grade of ‘B and above’ in O level courses.
  2. Only courses classified as academic will be considered for admission. Courses must include Physics, Chemistry and Biology with at least two of them including Biology at the AS level/A level.

2.7 African Curriculum(WAEC/WASSCE etc)

A & B combination of grades in 12th grades in Biology and Chemistry can be considered. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics.

2.8 Canadian Curriculum(Ontario/Alberta etc)

An aggregate score of 85% is required. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics.

Applicants from any other foreign educational curriculum not listed above must have secured a minimum aggregate equivalent to UAE curriculum 90% as per International Conversion Table of World Education Standards.

MBBS Admission procedure:

The following steps will be followed for admissions to the MBBS program for Sept 2021 session:

  1. From the online applications received, a provisional offer letter will be issued to the highly meritorious amongst the fully qualified candidate asking them to remit the part of the seat reservation fee. Once the fee payment received, the candidate will be called to write the Entrance Exam which includes the following basic science subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics & Mathematics.
  2. After passing the Entrance Exam, a call letter for interview will be issued to the candidates for the interview which will be conducted on Google Meet. Admissions Committee consisting of Dean of the medical college & a panel of one or two Senior Faculty and In-Charge Admissions, Registration & Marketing will conduct the interview.
  3. Grade 12 results are declared for various Boards of study in UAE at different timings in 3 phases-starting end of May, mid of June and first week of July. Therefore, interviews will be conducted from June onwards every week until seats are full.

  • The admission will be done as per the merit list and within the CAA Guidelines and regulations for admission.
  • Candidates who are selected for admission after the interview will receive the Admission Offer letter by email from the University within 2 days with a timeline for acceptance and confirmation by payment of balance fees. If the candidate is accepting the offer of admission, he/she must comply with all the requirements specified in the Admission Offer Letter including submission of required documents and payment of fee on or before the stipulated date mentioned in the Admission Offer Letter. If the candidate does not respond within the deadline mentioned, the admission offer automatically expires and the seat is allotted to the next candidate in the waiting list.
  • On compliance of the above including payment of requisite fee, the candidate will receive a registered student ID number on email and due intimation from the University regarding further details on the Freshman Orientation Program.
  • Applicants should strictly adhere to the deadlines indicated for admission, submit online applications on time and upload important document copies mentioned such as grade sheets/ transcripts, EmSAT/IELTS/TOEFL scores etc and ensure application is fully completed before they click the submit button.
  • Once the seats are full, the remaining candidates who have qualified after interview will be waitlisted.
  • Waitlisted applicants and late applicants can be considered for admission if seats are still available for that program, within registration deadlines.
  • Admission of students are subject to the compliance of all requirements specified in the Admission Offer Letter.
  • All the documents submitted online by the candidates will be verified with the originals submitted by the candidates during admission and duly returned after verification as per CAA guidelines.
  • In case of non-compliance with any of the admission criteria/ false documentation submitted, the admission of the candidate will automatically stand cancelled.

The original documents to be submitted for verification by the candidate for verification are mentioned in the admissions offer.

BDS Program

1 Admissions General Requirements

Applicants from any other foreign educational curriculum not listed above must have secured a minimum aggregate equivalent to UAE curriculum 85% as per International Conversion Table of World Education Standards.

B.Pharm Program

1 Admissions General Requirements

  1. An EmSAT score of 800 for Arabic Language. Alternatively, the international students can register for a non-credited Basic Arabic Language course at the institution.
  2. An EmSAT score of 900 in Mathematics or equivalent, plus scores of 900 in two of the three science subjects (Chemistry, Biology or Physics). 3. M.S.Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Pharmaceutics

B.Pharm with minimum CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 3 on a 4 scale or equivalent.

In addition to the above, the mandatory requirement for the English language is 6 in Academic IELTS OR EMSAT English 1400 OR TOEFL 550.

4. Remedial Preparation to M.S. Pharmacy programs:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Degree with minimum CGPA(Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 2 to 2.49 on 4 point scale or equivalent to the remedial program.

BSN Program

1. Country Wise Curriculum Requirements:

1.1 UAE Curriculum:

An aggregate of 70% in the grade 12 science stream/ Advanced stream of UAE GSEC of Ministry of Education. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics or EMSAT score whichever is higher.

Abu Dhabi Education Council stream students should similarly have 70% aggregate. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Advanced Biology(level 3) and Advanced Chemistry( level 3) or EMSAT score whichever is higher.

1.2 Pakistan Boards/Certificate:

Higher Secondary School Certificate with aggregate of 55% can apply. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics (Part 1 and Part 2 total).

1.3 Indian Curriculum:

All India Senior School Certificate XII std CBSE/ISCE exams with 55% aggregate can apply. However, preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses.

Indian State board: 60% aggregate can apply. However, preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses

Applicants from any other foreign educational curriculum not listed above must have secured a minimum aggregate equivalent to UAE curriculum 70% as per International Conversion Table of World Education Standards.

4. RN –BSN Bridge Program:

Registered nurses who have completed the Associate Degree/Diploma in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing with 70% aggregate with 2 years of clinical working experience (OR with 65%-69% aggregate in Associate Degree in Nursing/Diploma in Nursing with 3-7 years of clinical working experience) and RN licensure from the country of origin can apply.

5. English language requirements for BSN & RN-BSN programs: An Emirates Standardized Test (EmSAT) score of 1100 for English Language or an equivalent English Proficiency Test approved by the CAA. (TOEFL score of 500 in paper-based test OR 61 in internet based test OR Academic IELTS score of 5)

UAE Nationals: Separate permission has been taken from CAA for UAE Nationals for one semester who were below English language requirement meeting provisional norms.

6. Conversion Program leading to BSN:

Pathway from enrolment in Conversion program, leading to admission into BSN program at RAKMHSU Based on the agreement signed by Ministry of Health & Prevention (MOHAP) and RAKMHSU, UAE Nationals who have completed.

Arts stream of UAE NGSSE/12th grade with 75% or above aggregate can apply to Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) for sponsorship to join Conversion Program within the dates mentioned by them.

MOHAP will provide the final list of the students selected for sponsorship to RAKMHSU.

The duration of the Conversion Program is 16 weeks. Upon passing the Conversion Program with a GPA of 2, and upon meeting the English Language requirements (IELTS with a score of 5 or TOEFL paper based test with a score of 500), EmSAT Achieve-

English score of 1100 - 1225, students will be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program. Note: UAE Nationals from science advance stream who fulfill all the requirements for the BSN program at RAK MHSU may directly approach MOH for sponsorship.

All other nationalities who wish to join the Conversion Program have to remit AED 13,000 after fulfilling admissions requirement. UAE Nationals applying for RN-BSN & Masters programs may directly check with MOHAP regarding their scholarship suitability once they qualify for admission.

7. Admission criteria for Master of Science in Nursing (specialties: Adult Health and Gerontology Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing) and Master of Science in Midwifery.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree with minimum CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 550 in paper-based test OR 79 in internet based test OR Academic IELTS score of 6 OR EmSAT Achieve- English score of 1400 OR equivalent tests prescribed by Ministry is required.
  • One year of clinical experience in the area of Specialty for BSN applicants. They are as follows:

  1. Either adult or community experience is necessary for the adult specialization.
  2. Either adult or community experience is necessary for the community specialization.
  3. Either paediatric or community experience with evidence that this has included paediatrics is necessary for the paediatric specialization.
  4. Psychiatric Mental Health experiences is necessary for the Psychiatric Mental Health specialization.
  5. Midwifery experience is necessary for the Master of Science in Midwifery Or 2-years post-diploma for the RN-BSN-qualified applicants

  • RN-Licensure from country of origin.

8. New Remedial preparation for MSN & MSM :

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree with minimum CGPA(Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 2 to 2.49 on 4 point scale or equivalent to the remedial program.

NOTE: Attestations & Equivalency Certificate mandatory prior to admission:

  1. Prior to admission, all students who studied foreign curriculum in UAE must produce the Equivalency Certificate from the Ministry of Education of the emirate in which studied. To obtain the same, students should visit the Ministry of Education and submit their Arabic and Islamic results for the grades 10, 11 and 12(For Muslims).
  2. For students who studied foreign curriculum in UAE, attestation (official seal & stamp) of certificates grade 10 onwards until grade 12 by Ministry of Education is also mandatory.
  3. Students who studied foreign curriculum outside UAE, must obtain attestation (official seal & stamp) of school grade sheets, 10th grade upwards until 12th by Ministry of Education in the country of study and UAE consulate in that country.

Direct Admission (M.S.Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Pharmaceutics):

B.Pharm with minimum CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 3 on a 4 scale or equivalent.

In addition to the above, the mandatory requirement for the English language is 6 in Academic IELTS OR EMSAT English 1400 OR TOEFL 550.

  1. Conditional Admission (MSN – Adult Health Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing, MS – Midwifery & M.S.Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Pharmaceutics):
    BSN & B.Pharm with GPA of 2.5 can be conditionally admitted such students will take in first semester 9 credits only and should get 3 GPA end of first semester.
  2. Those with English Proficiency of EmSAT 1100/TOEFL 500 or IELTS 5 in undergraduate may also be considered for conditional admission if they studied undergraduate degree in English language.
  3. Remedial preparation for the graduate programs (MSN – Adult Health Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing, MS – Midwifery & M.S.Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Pharmaceutics):

Graduates of BSN & B.Pharm with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 to less than 2.49 on a scale of 4.0 or its established equivalent. Such a student must take a minimum of 9 credit hours has remedial preparation for the Graduate program. These remedial course are not for credit within the degree program.

The student must achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on scale of 4.0 or its established equivalent in these 9 credits of remedial courses in order to progress to the graduate program or be subject to dismissal.

Prospective students may fill in the online application form and attach all relevant documents and the fully qualified applicants will receive an offer letter with a deadline for payment remittance.

Masters programs in Nursing & Pharmacy aspirants may apply online and qualified students will be called for an interview/discussion with the Dean.

English language requirements for all Bachelor Degree Programs MBBS, BDS,B.Pharm,BSN & RN-BSN Programs:

Proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 500 in paper-based test OR 61 in internet based test OR Academic IELTS score of 5 OR EmSAT Achieve- English score of minimum 1100 is required.

English language requirements for Masters Programs:

Proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 550 in paper-based test OR 79 in internet based test OR Academic IELTS score of 6 OR EmSAT Achieve- English score of minimum1400 is required.

Note:

  1. Students with 12th grade marksheet/grades more than 2 years old will not be given priority for admission.
  2. The University reserves the right to refuse admission to any candidate without assigning any reason.
  3. The decision of the Admission Committee in the matters of admission is final.
  4. The jurisdiction in respect of all legal matters in admission related matters will be at Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

Important Admission Dates:
Sept intake 2021:
a) Online applications for MBBS, BDS, B.Pharm, BSN, RN-BSN, MSN, MSM & M.S Pharmacy programs will be received from 01st March 2021 for the academic session 2021-22. Students may apply online with the TOEFL & final grade/predicted 12 results along with other documents mentioned in the online application form.
b) The last date of Submission of Online form for MBBS program is : 15th July 2021
c) The last date of submission of Online form for BDS, B.Pharm, BSN, RN-BSN, MSN, MSM , M.S Pharmacy & Remedial Preparation for MSN , MSM & M.S Pharmacy Programs : 12th Aug 2021
