RAKMHSU Hosts Hands-on Training in Basics of Laboratory Animal Handling & Experimental Techniques

A Proud Milestone in Scientific Learning at RAKMHSU!

We are delighted to share the success of our three-day event (10–12 October 2025) — Hands-on Training in Basics of Laboratory Animal Handling & Experimental Techniques — organized by the Central Animal Research Facility and the Translational Medical Research Centre, in collaboration with the SIDC at RAKMHSU.

Accredited for 8.5 CPD hours by the Emirates Health Services, UAE, the program opened online on Day 1 with engaging lectures and continued with two dynamic days of on-campus, hands-on sessions & theory and workplace-based practical assessments.

With the participation of over 111 delegates, including faculty, staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD research scholars & postdoctoral fellows from across Khalifa University, UAE University, University of Sharjah, Ajman University, Gulf Medical University, BITS Dubai, AMITY University, American University of Ras Al Khaimah, RAKMHSU, and several industry professionals, the event truly evolved into a scientific celebration of learning, collaboration, and innovation.

Throughout the program, participants explored the ethical, scientific, and technical dimensions of laboratory animal research — gaining real-time experience in animal handling, routes of drug administration, blood withdrawal, organ perfusion, dissection, nucleic acid extraction, PCR, biochemistry assays, tissue processing, and microscopy. Every session was a step toward bridging classroom knowledge with translational biomedical research practice. All three learning domains — Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies — were effectively delivered and assessed, ensuring a holistic and outcome-based learning experience. The campus buzzed with curiosity and excitement as participants shared ideas, learned by doing, and discovered the delicate balance between scientific precision and humane research practice. The atmosphere was nothing short of inspiring — a reflection of RAKMHSU’s growing strength as a hub for research excellence and translational innovation.

A warm note of gratitude to Prof. Ismail I. A. Matalka, FRCPath. and Prof. Mohamed El-Tanani, PhD, FRCPath (UK) for their visionary leadership and constant guidance throughout this program.

We extend our heartfelt recognition to Dr. Shakta Mani Satyam for his exceptional leadership, together with his dedicated organizing team, whose tireless efforts, meticulous coordination, and unwavering commitment were instrumental in the outstanding success of this hands-on training. Their passion, teamwork, and attention to every detail ensured a seamless and truly enriching learning experience for all participants.
