Why this matters

The case for this theme

The UAE has one of the highest regional prevalences of type 2 diabetes and obesity. This theme links clinical populations to CARF's non-invasive cardiovascular instrumentation, giving the University a bench-to-bedside chain in a nationally prioritised disease area.

Methods and capability

  • Non-invasive ECG and blood pressure (EMKA, Kent Scientific)
  • Ex vivo working heart perfusion
  • Rodent metabolic and diabetic models
  • Clinical cohort and registry analysis
  • Biochemical and hormonal assay panels
  • Systematic review and meta-analysis
