  • Developed an extensive track record for developing a robust and mutually beneficial industry engagement program for research, technological innovation, and commercialization. As a result, I was the principal investigator on significant UK projects, including CRUK, Welcome Trust FP7 (£3.5 million), ITN Marie Curie (£3.5 million), Innovate UK – Biomedical Catalyst, a £2.0 million UK-China competition (SRISF). 
  • Showed successful experience in progressively responsible research. For example, I lead a research team that used sophisticated techniques to produce targeted medicines (Ran inhibitors). Ran inhibitors have been found, including a monoclonal antibody, two repurposed medicines (MELT2014 and MELT2015), peptides, and a new small molecule that has been confirmed in in vivo preclinical tests. Moreover, during my appointment I secured 5 international medical patents including peptide and nanoparticle formulations, assays, and compounds for use in medicine.
  • Made clear my experience with research administration and technology commercialization. Founding multiple successful spin-off companies, such as ARENA, Imhotep Diagnostics and Therapeutics (IDT), and Imhotep Diagnostics Health (IDX health).

Queens University Belfast (QUB), UK  2002 - 2014

  • Established an ability to merge research with industry successfully and grow a faculties research capability. For example, I lead QUB to the achievement of SPUR award, this granted the university’s cancer research centre a £15.8 million grant.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, and students as well as community groups of diverse backgrounds. Consequently, I collaboratively built the MSc degree programs in areas such as cancer pharmacology and digital pathology. What’s more I enhanced recruitment and retention of students by a significant proportion during my appointment.
  • Developed excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong professional network. Having published over 80 papers in high impact journals, serving as a senior editor and contributor to over 16 high-profile international journals and involvement in over 60 conferences worldwide.

  • Founder Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic Research Centre (PDRC) with over £4 million funding,
  • Developed a new bachelor's degree program in Cosmetic Sciences at AAU in Jordan. The BSc in Cosmetic Sciences, AAU, is Jordan's first degree.
  • Founded AAU's first master's degree in speech pathology.
  • Founded first master's degree program in Medical Laboratory Sciences in the country's public and private universities.
