The PhD in Nursing is the terminal research degree offered at RAK College of Nursing (RAKCON), RAK Medical and Health Sciences University. Spanning three years, it prepares experienced nurses for careers in research, academia and clinical leadership through advanced scholarship, an independent doctoral thesis and the generation of new nursing knowledge.
Program Overview
The doctoral program develops independent researchers who can lead inquiry into clinical practice, health systems and nursing education. Candidates work under faculty supervision to design and complete an original research study, contributing evidence that advances patient care and the nursing profession across the UAE and the wider region.

Admission Requirements
Admissions are open to students of all nationalities based on the established admission criteria.
- A bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or Midwifery (BSM).
- A master’s degree in Nursing or Midwifery, or a related field, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
- A Personal Statement.
- Both degrees must be obtained from universities recognized by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).
- A virtual Personal Interview is mandatory.
