Transforming Learning into Clinical Competence

Providing safe, experiential learning environments where students and healthcare professionals develop clinical, procedural, communication, and teamwork competencies through simulation, deliberate practice, feedback, and reflection.

About

Simulation-based education and clinical skills training are integral to health professions education, providing safe and structured environments where students develop competencies through experiential learning, deliberate practice, feedback, reflection, and assessment.

Learning progresses from focused clinical and procedural skills to complex patient-care scenarios that integrate clinical reasoning, communication, teamwork, professional behaviours, and collaborative decision-making.

Simulation also enables students from different health professions to learn and practice together, strengthening interprofessional collaboration, patient safety, and readiness for clinical practice improvement.

Strategic Objectives

  1. Integrate Simulation into Education

Embed simulation and clinical skills across curricula, aligned with learning outcomes, competency development, and assessment.

  2. Develop Clinical & Professional Competencies

Advance clinical, procedural, communication, teamwork, and decision-making competencies through progressive experiential learning and deliberate practice.

  3. Advance Patient Safety & Collaborative Practice

Use simulation to strengthen patient safety, professionalism, quality improvement, and interprofessional team-based care.

  4. Enhance Learning through Technology

Integrate simulation technologies, virtual and immersive learning, and digital tools where they add meaningful educational value.

  5. Strengthen Faculty Capability

Develop faculty expertise in simulation design, facilitation, debriefing, feedback, assessment, and technology-enhanced education.
