Your document & attestation route

Authenticate inside Nigeria first

Academic documents generally need verification by the issuing body (e.g. WAEC/NECO or your university) before moving up the chain. Start there and keep originals safe.

Legalise for the UAE via VFS Global

UAE attestation/legalisation in Nigeria is handled through VFS Global application centres (reported in Abuja and Lagos) rather than directly at the embassy. Ask what a student application needs before you attend.

Final UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation

Documents are also attested by the UAE MoFA — sometimes within the same VFS service or separately. Confirm how it is done.

Recognition / equivalency if required

A foreign degree may need UAE "University Certificates Recognition" (MOHESR); Grade-12 general education equivalency is handled by the MoE. This is separate from attestation and is more often needed for postgraduate entry or licensing.

University-sponsored student VISA

For full-time study the UAE student residence VISA is normally sponsored by the university after admission — follow RAKMHSU's instructions on medical fitness, Emirates ID and copies.

Language

WAEC, NECO and most Nigerian certificates are in English, so translation is usually not required. Other-language documents need a UAE-licensed legal translation.
