Mission & Objectives
- To provide quality care for all laboratory animals used at the CARF-RAKMHSU
- To ensure that healthy animals are available for use by the faculty and students who have received approval from the RAKMHSU Research & Ethics Committee to perform research or educational studies on laboratory animals
- To assist RAKMHSU faculty & students in using animals for research and teaching in ways deemed to be ethical, scientifically valid, and technically viable
- To provide veterinary, husbandry, sanitation, and management requirements for the well-being of the animals
- To create a high-quality and safe environment for laboratory animals and to minimize the risk of disease or injury to both animals and personnel
- To conduct animal experiments in accordance with the highest scientific, humane, and ethical principles accepted internationally
- To act as a resource center for the faculty on all issues relating to laboratory animals
- To seek accreditation of CARF by the International Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC), and to be a registered research facility with the International Offices of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW)
