Mission & Objectives

To provide quality care for all laboratory animals used at the CARF-RAKMHSU
To ensure that healthy animals are available for use by the faculty and students who have received approval from the RAKMHSU Research & Ethics Committee to perform research or educational studies on laboratory animals
To assist RAKMHSU faculty & students in using animals for research and teaching in ways deemed to be ethical, scientifically valid, and technically viable
To provide veterinary, husbandry, sanitation, and management requirements for the well-being of the animals
To create a high-quality and safe environment for laboratory animals and to minimize the risk of disease or injury to both animals and personnel
To conduct animal experiments in accordance with the highest scientific, humane, and ethical principles accepted internationally
To act as a resource center for the faculty on all issues relating to laboratory animals
To seek accreditation of CARF by the International Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC), and to be a registered research facility with the International Offices of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW)
