RAKMHSU endorsed the RAK Recycles Initiative by the Waste Management Department, RAS Al Khaimah in starting from 2017. The University implemented the “Separation at source” program through installments of 25 green bins provided by RAK Waste Management Department and distributed throughout the RAKMHSU campus.

The green bins are used to dispose all clean, dry recyclable materials including the following:

• All plastic containers (bottles, tubes etc…)
• All plastic packaging, sheets and bags.
• All steel cans (cans used for candy, nuts, coffee, tea etc..).
• All aluminum cans (soft drinks cans)
• All unbroken glass (bottles, jars etc..)

Separate green bins are also installed near the Documentation Center, Examination Office, Students Affairs Office to collect clean, non-contaminated paper including the following:

• Newspapers, magazines, flyers and brochures.
• Tissue boxes and cereal boxes.
• Books and loose sheets of paper.

For cardboard and big piles of office papers, the university contact the Waste Management Department to collect the material periodically.

The University has participated in the “RAK Green School-2022/23” Initiative, organized by RAK Public Services Department.
