Admission Criteria for Bachelor of Pharmacy

General Admission Requirements

RAKMHSU admission policy is based on student academic achievement in the secondary school certificate or its equivalent, and English language proficiency, regardless of gender, race, color, religion, age or national origin.

Admission Procedures

UAE GSEC:

    An aggregate of 85% in the grade 12 science stream/ Advanced stream of UAE GSEC of Ministry of Education. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics or EMSAT score whichever is higher.
    Abu Dhabi Education Council stream students should similarly have 85% aggregate. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Advanced Biology(level 3) and Advanced Chemistry( level 3) or EMSAT score whichever is higher.

As part of admissions requirement students should pass the Admission Exam designed by RAK College of Pharmacy which includes the following basic science subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics & Mathematics and also pass a personal interview set by RAK College of Pharmacy.

Indian Curriculum:

    All India Senior School Certificate XII Std CBSE/ISCE exams with 70% aggregate can apply. However, preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses.
    Indian State board: 75% aggregate can apply. However, preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses

Pakistan Board:

    Higher Secondary School Certificate with aggregate of 70% can apply. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics (Part 1 and Part 2 total).

American Curriculum:

    An aggregate score of 85% is required. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics. If Biology is not taken in 12th Grade, a SAT II score of 550 in Biology is required.

International Baccalaureate:

    Must have completed any six courses including Biology and Chemistry/Physics at the higher level and obtain IB score of at least 25.

British Curriculum :

  1. Students applying for the B.Pharm program must have completed at least two Advanced Supplementary or AS level OR one A level in Biology with at least ‘C and above’ grade after having completed 5 IGCSE/GCSE or O levels with minimum grade of ‘C and above’ in O level courses.
  2. Only courses classified as academic will be considered for admission. Courses must include Physics, Chemistry and Biology with at least two of them including Biology at the AS level/A level.

African Curriculum (WAEC/WASSCE etc)

C grade & above combination of grades in 12th grades in Biology and Chemistry can be considered. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics.

Canadian Curriculum(Ontario/Alberta etc)

An aggregate score of 80% is required. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics.

Applicants from any other foreign educational curriculum not listed above must have secured a minimum aggregate equivalent to UAE curriculum 85 % as per International Conversion Table of World Education Standards.

Conditional Admissions for B.Pharm

Those who do not secure the above marks for Direct Admissions can be Conditionally Admitted by the Two Categories below:

  1. Those who secured between 70% and 84% for UAE curriculum and those who secured above 60% and below 69% for Indian & Pakistan Curriculum
  2. Those with TOEFL between 450 but less than 500, EmSAT 950 but less than 1100 or between 4.5 and 5 in IELTS
  3. Conditionally admitted students will take only GE courses upto (12 credit hours) in the first semester. On obtaining 2.5 GPA in semester one, student will proceed to second semester as a regular student. If not student will be academically dismissed

Minimum Eligibility for admissions to B.Pharm:

Proficiency in English:

Proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 500 in paper-based test, 61 in internet based test or 173 in computer based test OR Academic IELTS score of 5 OR EmSAT Achieve- English score of minimum 1100.

Minimum Eligibility for admissions to B.Pharm for the proficiency in English:

Proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 500 in paper-based test, 61 in internet based test or 173 in computer based test OR Academic IELTS score of 5 OR EmSAT Achieve- English score of minimum 1100.

This will be common for all the health sciences programs. The students may appear for TOEFL in their country or in any recognized centre in UAE. RAKMHSU runs English language program through English Language Centre and is entitled to conduct Institutional TOEFL. Any student who wish to enroll in any of the RAKMHSU programs, but could not appear for TOEFL in his/her own country, can be benefited with the services of English Language Centre. The grades awarded in the institutional TOEFL conducted RAKMHSU OR Direct TOEFL offices at Abu-Dhabi & Dubai are acceptable.

Note: Students securing between 450-500 in TOEFL (between 4.5-5 in IELTS) may be admitted provisionally to the first semester of B.Pharm. after examining individual cases and number of attempts by the student. Such students will be provisionally admitted with a deadline to clear TOEFL/IELTS before the end of the first semester. Such students will progress to the second semester only after obtaining minimum score of 500 in TOEFL/5 in IELTS. If not, their admission will be cancelled and they will not be registered for the second semester of the program.

Academic Criteria:

Admission to all programs is based entirely on merit. Admissions are open to students of all nationalities.
