NFNT 113 Foundations of Nursing – 1 Theory (3-0 = 3)

An introduction to the definition of Nursing and Health. Emphasis is on the relevance of context and on caring, nursing history and professionalism, nursing process, skills in assessment, basic procedures and communication.

An introduction to the fundamental skills relevant to the context of caring and meeting basic needs of patients. It also gives an opportunity to apply therapeutic communication techniques and nursing process in providing comprehensive patient care.

This course is a study of normal anatomy of the human body through lecture, demonstration visuals and hands on laboratory experience. It will provide the student with a basis for clinical nursing practice.
NPH 103 Physiology (2-1 = 3)

Physiology of the body systems will be explored, including reproduction, homeostasis and fluid balance. Learned through lecture, demonstration, visuals and hands on laboratory experience.
NND 202 Nutrition & Dietetics (2-0 = 2)

Nutrition and Dietetics is a two-credit course offered in the second semester. It is a foundation course in nutrition to provide the students a perspective on some of the links between diet, health and disease. Introduction to diet therapy in disease states is integrated throughout the course.
NMB 203 Microbiology (2-1 = 3)

This course provides first-year nursing students with knowledge of principles of medical microbiology and immunology that will support the study of the role of microbes in disease production. This will prepare the students for the practice of infection control measures and their role in diagnosis and management of infectious diseases.
NFNT 223 Foundations of Nursing – 2 Theory (3-0 = 3)

This course is a continuation from Foundations of Nursing-1; the student continues to develop her/his knowledge and skill in recognizing and carrying out the basic needs of patients, integrating scientific principles using problem solving approach and nursing skills procedures. End of life care and basic emergency care will be introduced.

This course is continuation from Foundations of Nursing-1; it provides opportunity to develop knowledge, skills, attitude and clinical reasoning for problem solving in care of patients with diverse medical - surgical problems including basic emergency care.

This course is designed to guide nursing students to interact effectively with the client, family, inter and intradisciplinary healthcare providers. The course focuses on the principles and strategies of communication that help nursing students to interact positively clients with varieties of health problems. More focus will be the application of therapeutic communication skills when providing holistic care for clients and their families. Interactive learning methodology will be adopted to achieve the course learning outcomes.

General Psychology is a survey of various methods, principles, and theories of scientific psychology as applied to the study and understanding of human thoughts, emotions and behaviors. It also includes physiological foundations of behavior, growth and development, learning and memory. Motivation and emotions, personality, stress and adjustment, social interactions, and psychological disorders and treatment approaches are also included.
NHB 303 Human Biochemistry (2-1= 3)

This is a system based introductory biochemistry course dealing with the basic concepts of bio molecules such as carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, enzymes and the functioning of musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, blood, respiratory, cardiovascular, excretory, and endocrine systems. The students are also exposed to the fundamental aspects of molecular biology and its relation to the causes of common diseases.
NPA 303 Pathophysiology (3-0= 3)

This course is to introduce students to fundamental pathophysiological changes in human body that results in disruptive adaptive responses throughout the lifespan. These disruptive responses are approached in a systematic manner. A combination of identified cellular concepts and a body systems approach is utilized to structure course content.

This course provides the nursing students with the main principles and concepts that are related to individual growth and development through childhood, adolescents, adults, and elderly stages. It focuses on the most important factors that affect the growth and development, its pattern, and theories of growth and development. The course discusses the most important age requirements for each stage and will focus on the role of the family and the community to help the individual to reach the optimum level of health by introducing the importance of comprehensive nursing care for children and adolescents, adults, and the elderly and their families relying on the general framework for the development of the concept of health maintenance and promotion.

This course is designed to introduce the students to the foundational concepts, models, and theories of health education and promotion. Student will explore principles of health and wellness, examine determinants of health behavior, and analyze factors that influence individual health behaviors outcomes. The course emphasizes on the nurse's role as a health educator and advocate, prepares students to assess clients' health needs and to design, implement, and evaluate health education programs for individuals, families. This will be implemented through the application of varieties of interactive strategies and innovative technologies.
NAHT 413 Adult Health Nursing – 1 Theory (3-0 = 3)

NPN 403 Pharmacology in Nursing (3-0= 3)

In this course, students will synthesize pharmacological concepts; explain the terminology, pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, contraindications and precautions for prototype drugs for multiple organ systems will be studied. Major emphasis will be placed on nursing management practices that minimize the adverse effects and maximize therapeutic effects in patients.
HIT 101 Health Informatics & Artificial Intelligence (2-1= 3)

This course introduces students to nursing informatics, artificial intelligence (AI), and emerging healthcare technologies. It emphasizes the use of EHRs, telehealth, and clinical decision support tools to enhance patient care, clinical reasoning, and collaboration. Ethical, legal, and cultural aspects of technology use are explored, along with emotional intelligence in virtual care. Students will also examine innovation and entrepreneurship in nursing to develop tech-driven solutions for diverse healthcare settings.

This course is a continuation of Adult Health Nursing 1. The emphasis is on medical-surgical specialties, musculoskeletal, ENT, and Ophthalmology. Nursing concepts basic to health and illness shall be examined across the continuum of individuals and family.

This clinical component of Adult Health Nursing 2 offers students the opportunity to develop clinical skills and provide direct patient care through planned and guided clinical placements in medical and surgical settings and specialty units (Ear, Nose and Throat). Students will gain hands-on experience caring for patients and their families, and apply nursing knowledge including nursing process framework in real-world settings, to enhance their confidence and competence in adult health nursing.

Child Health Nursing is a core course in the undergraduate nursing curriculum that focuses on the holistic care of infants and children within the context of family, community, and society. This course equips nursing students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to provide evidence-based, family-centered, developmentally appropriate care to children across the health-illness continuum. Clinical practicum experiences enable students to apply theoretical knowledge, develop clinical competencies, and collaborate within interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, ethical, and culturally sensitive care for children and their families.

This clinical practicum provides nursing students, opportunities to apply foundational Child health nursing skills in various healthcare settings. The clinical experience emphasizes child-centered and family-focused care, communication with children at different developmental stages, and safe, ethical practice. Clinical exposure will help the students to develop essential competencies related to illness prevention and health promotion among children and their family.
NPMT 503 Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing - Theory (3-0 = 3)

This course introduces the basic principles and concepts of mental health nursing. Emphasis will be on therapeutic interventions and nursing care for mentally ill clients and their caregivers. This also includes rehabilitative aspects of the patients with mental illness.

This course aims to introduce the nursing students to the national and international culture of safety to ensure clients and families well-being. More attention will be on exploring the various categories of potential errors that can arise during healthcare delivery, studying their origins and effective preventive measures. Moreover, you will learn about global benchmarks for patient protection and strategies aimed at elevating the standards of healthcare quality. The course will help the students to understand the significance of infection prevention in curbing transmission and to gain comprehensive knowledge of safety precautions and occupational health.

This course introduces foundational concepts of obstetrics and gynecological nursing. It focuses on the physiological and psychological aspects of normal pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and essential newborn care. Emphasis is placed on respectful obstetrics care, health promotion, antenatal education, and the midwifery model. Students will begin developing basic practical skills through simulation and supervised clinical experience in obstetrics and gynaecological care settings.

This is a continuation of Adult health nursing 2. The course focuses on disorders of Hematology, Immunology, Integumentary systems. Emphasis is placed on applying critical thinking skills and relating etiological factors, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic tests and treatment modalities in the care of clients with selected medical surgical problems and to formulate evidence- based care plans for patients with immunological, hematological integumentary disorders.
NAHC 633 Adult Health Nursing- 3 Clinical (0-3 = 3)

This is a clinical component of adult Health nursing 3. It provides students opportunities to utilize the nursing process framework to develop an individualized plan of care for patients experiencing hematologic, immunological and disorders of the integumentary systems and their families in acute care facilities. Opportunities are provided during clinical placements to learn interprofessional collaboration with healthcare teams, including hematologist, dermatologists to provide comprehensive patient-centered care.

Designed to increase the depth of knowledge and level of nursing skill. It covers fundamental principles and advanced concepts of critical care nursing, structured around the nursing process and nursing diagnosis. The purpose of this course is to provide clinical immersion opportunities for students in practical settings to support knowledge applications, skill developments and refinements, role developments and transition to practice. These experiences will develop the students, critical thinking/clinical reasoning skills and increase communications skills, time management and organization abilities. Opportunities to explore the multiple roles of the professional nurse in the health care settings to serve as the member of the inter-professional team and prepare students for reality-based practice.
NTP 802 New Trends and Professional ethics in Nursing (2-0 = 2)
